John Mark, a young follower of Christ who traveled with Peter and Paul documented the life and ministry of Jesus. When the church looked as if she would break in Rome, John Mark, with a pastor’s heart, wrote the Gospel of Mark –the first book about Jesus. It was to encourage and make bold the faith of broken Christians. The gospels were born. After him came Matthew, Luke and then John. God’s suffering people needed to be reminded of who; Jesus is, of his suffering, and his kingdom-which is greater than this kingdom. John Mark knew that for his people and us, only a view of Jesus would carry them through.
